What is the difference between an eye exam for clear contacts and colored contacts?

It's time for my eye exam and the last time I was getting my contact lens exam, I asked the doctor if I could try a pair of colored contacts. He stated that I should have mentioned it before he started the exam because clear contacts and colored contacts eye exams are different. I don't see why or how they can be different but I accepted his answer, took my clear contacts and went about my business.

Can someone explain to me what they do in a colored contact lens exam that they don't do in a clear contact lens exam? Or was that eye doctor just full of it and making bogus excuses? What is the difference between an eye exam for clear contacts and colored contacts?
I believe the measurements of the contacts themselves are different. I find colored contacts are not as comfortable as clear ones. Also, another difference may be the time it takes for them to sit with you to go through and test all the colors and options you have. What is the difference between an eye exam for clear contacts and colored contacts?
I wear both..I usually change them up every 6 months or so and the eye exam isn't different for them.after I run out of my clear ones I then order the colored ones and they go by what your prescription
I think your doctor was full of it. He may be lazy and you didn't mentioned to him at first that you wanted to try colored contacts as well. It is easier for the doctor to get both boxes at the same time.
i just got contacts 3 weeks ago and i got sized for clear contacts but also got colors so i dont know. but my doctor told me that color contacts are much larger than clear ones so maybe that had somthing to do with that???
